This evidence based, hands on, one day workshop
is directed at Health Care Professionals who wish to keep up to date with current trends, and work more effectively
with their clients and improve treatment outcome.
Learning
This one day workshop will
introduce you to the current evidence base and academic thinking on eating disorders, their etiology, dynamics and the treatments
that have been proven effective in bringing about remission. The workshop will cover both anorexia and bulimia nervosa
along with the category currently defined as Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified (EDNOS), which includes Binge Eating Disorder.
The workshop will include didactic learning, readings, video recordings of clinical encounters and roll-playing of treatment and assessment sessions.
Following the workshop you will:
1. Know the diagnostic criteria for these 3 eating disorder categories
2. Know some of the signs and symptoms to look out for
3. Be aware of the possible mechanisms causing and maintaining the eating disorder
4. Be aware of some of the treatments that may help with each of the eating disorders
5. Have an understanding of the therapeutic stance that tends to work with these clients
6. Understand referral pathways and escalating the intensity of treatment required based upon the nature of the presenting symptoms
Presenter
Dr Sarah Maguire is a clinical psychologist
with a PhD in the field of Eating Disorders. Dr Maguire is the appointed Eating Disorder Consultant to NSW Health and oversees their
eating disorder programs across NSW. Dr Maguire also works in private practice treating eating disorders, and general psychological illnesses. She has many years experience in
the field of eating disorders as both a researcher and clinician. Dr Maguire has trained in Australia and overseas with the leading experts in this field. Dr Maguire uses experiential learning as an integral part of her workshops, is an
energetic and interactive presenter with a wealth of knowledge and experience to impart on this workshop.
Cost and Registration
$240 single day training fee, includes morning and afternoon refreshments
The venue is located in heart of Byron Bay (town) with access to many exciting healthy lunch time experiences.
Places are limited and will be booked on a first come
first served basis.

Conditions
Cancellations of attendance from the workshop, more than 14 days before the workshop will incur a $40 cancelation handling fee. Cancelations made less than ten days before the workshop
can have the full amount credited towards another Byron Clinic workshop or recieve a 60% refund. Byron Clinic Pty Ltd reserves the right to make any changes to the above workshop without notice.
