This evidence based, hands on, one day workshop
is directed at Health Care Professionals who wish to keep up to date with current trends, and work more effectively
with their clients and improve treatment outcome.
Learning
At this interactive workshop
Dr. Devilly will investigate the origins of trauma, overview the evolutionary relevance and look at the current research and efforts to categorize and differentiate trauma. Dr. Devilly will review present research
findings on areas of personal psychological disturbance for trauma clients and the high degree of co morbidity with other disorders. Dr. Devilly will offer an overview of the various treatment
options for post traumatic stress disorder, their similarities, differences and efficacy.
Dr. Devilly will then aim to equip all attendees with practical skills for resolving post traumatic stress disorder using exposure therapy. This will be done by a hands-on explanation of the
treatment process, using role plays, case studies and demonstrations. Dr. Devilly will discuss implications and obstacles of working in a multi cultural setting.
Plus strategies for working with clients who present with co-morbid issues such as drug use, mental health problems and trauma.
The integration of cognitive techniques into the practice of exposure therapy will also be addressed along with a review of current research on resilience training to trauma and, a model of intervention
for the the workplace.
Presenter
Assoc. Professor Grant Devilly BSc (Hons), MClin, PhD .
Dr. Devilly is a Clinical Psychologist with a wealth
of experience in the field of Trauma assessment and treatment. Dr. Devilly has published a
number of articles relating to PTSD and was part of the NH&MRC endorsed panel which
wrote the Australian guidelines for the treatment of PTSD. More recently his research has focused on early interventions following trauma, and
resilience training for those most at risk of experiencing trauma. Dr. Devilly is a seasoned presenter
on the topic of PTSD and, in particular, on psychological aspects of intervention and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this workshop.

$240 single day training fee, includes morning and afternoon refreshments
The venue is located in heart of Byron Bay (town) with access to many exciting healthy lunch time experiences.
Places are limited and will be booked on a first come
first served basis.

Conditions
Cancellations of attendance from the workshop, more than 14 days before the workshop will incur a $40 cancelation handling fee. Cancelations made less than ten days before the workshop
can have the full amount credited towards another Byron Clinic workshop or recieve a 60% refund. Byron Clinic Pty Ltd reserves the right to make any changes to the above workshop without notice.
