Depression
Byron Clinic offers a private, trusting, safe and confidential service.

Depression is a serious illness, regularly described as overwhelming sadness, hopelessness, lethargy, difficulty functioning in everyday life, social withdrawal, difficulty making decision and a reduced memory. There are also illnesses that may be directly related to depressive disorders, such as strokes, heart disease, and certain types of cancer, thyroid disease, diabetes, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and hormonal abnormalities.

While we all feel sad, moody or low from time to time, some people experience these feelings intensely, for long periods of time and often without any obvious cause or reason. Some risk factor may include the death or illness of a close family member or friend, divorce or separation, career crisis, moving to a new location, financial problems, or any unwelcome change to existing life patterns.

People with depression find it hard to function in every day life and may be reluctant to participate in activities they once enjoyed. The condition is so pervasive that the sufferer often does not have the energy or motivation to make any significant change. At Byron Clinic Byron Bay, we take an integrated, holistic approach to depression that involves a level of psychotherapy along with a range of activities that aim to motivate and inspire. Our goal is to equip you with the tools to manage these difficult times, to become independent and strong.
